Down

I'm so down lately; its nothing but work, and more work, waiting for the endless days to crawl by until the weekend. When Saturday and Sunday roll around I can hardly focus on anything but menial tasks. Is this being an adult? It kind of sucks. I'm making more of an effort to do the things I want, but where will I find the energy?
Here's my dress I bought awhile ago and never photographed. Nothing was fitting me right so I finally ventured into the petites section at Topshop where I found this perfect blue dress. Now I just want all of the petite clothes. It fits all over, and doesn't need to be tailored anywhere. It's a miracle.

  1. Petite you say? How tall are you? I always assumed you had height of at least 5'5"! Nontheless, very pretty dress.

  3. The petite sections of stores are the best things ever! It's like somebody finally realized a lot of people aren't model tall. This dress looks great on you and is definitely super flattering.

I hope you feel better soon! I feel you with the endless work and exhaustion. I can't wait for grad school to be over but then I'm like - well then there's endless work again. It never seems to end and it's hard to find the energy or time to do fun things. I think life just has its ups and downs like this though and eventually you'll have some time to feel up.

  4. I can completely empathise with that feeling of drudgery...I'm currently working part-time and writing up my masters dissertation and I find the neverending cycle of all work/no play suppresses your sense of identity (if that makes sense). You just start to feel like you're going through the motions and to what end. The downside is that I hand my dissertation in in 2 weeks and still only have a part-time job meaning plenty of play time but not enough money to afford it! It's one big catch 22 :) Anyway, on a positive note...I love your outfit! That dress has a lovely classic feel to it. I always love your sense of style and how well you alternate between classic and playful styles. Hope you catch a break soon :)

  5. I'm like 5'3 (I actually grew an inch+ since high school which makes me super happy) but I'm a proportionate 5'3 so regular sizes leave me with too-long arms, hems, waists. Its so annoying and I spend a small fortune on tailoring.

  6. Sorry to hear you're feeling down! I was pretty down as well the last few months. With the weather being nicer my mood has improved. But yea, being an adult kinda sucks! Wouldn't wanna go back to highschool but college was nice...way less to worry about!

  7. I know how you feel. I've been working 2 jobs to try to pay off my credit cards and get out of debt. It really stinks. I suggest trying to plan a reward or something fun to look forward to that makes all the work worth it! If you find anything else that works, let me know.

  8. I feel the same way! I try to get as much of the mundane stuff done during the week (before/after work). It's hard to motivate, but by doing that I get more weekend free time.

I also recently had this revelation about petite sizing, I got a petite dress at anthropologie and the waist hit my actual waist! Ground-breaking, right?

  9. Kallie! This dress was made for you! I might have to check out TopShop, I think the closest one to me is in Chicago though. I hope that you feel better soon, being so busy with work is the worst. You should relax and watch some 90's movies and clear your head! :)

  11. I'm so sorry you're feeling down. I know the feeling well. I think this is the hardest part of the year, before it gets really sunny and warm, and everyone's just beat down by winter. I wish I had the money, I'd totally come visit you and then you'd have something cool to look forward to!! Haha. Anyway, that dress really does look amazing on you! Maybe I need to look into this petite thing as well! How tall are you??

  15. Oh no! Sorry you've been feeling down. You look darling in your new dress, though! Life can sometimes get the best of all of us, especially at the end of seasons. I, for one, refuse to believe that adulthood should rob anyone of fun, though.

  16. Whaaat? For some reason I thought you were like, average to tall! Dude you're only like an inch or two taller than me! For some reason this excites me more than it should.

  17. I lol'd at that. The first time I met a few people IRL from blogging the first thing they said was "Oh, I thought you were taller." I kind of thought you and I were the same height, like when I first started reading your blog I thought, OMG THIS GIRL, this girl is my height and I can wear dem outfits she has!
