Still Water, Scattered Thoughts

This strange, balmy weather we've been having is perfect for taking walks outside and watching a winter sunset. The end of the day is a good time to reflect, and being by the water at that time of day is especially thoughtful. Lately I've been whining an awful lot about work and I realize now that I want to stop that. My feelings about my job are spilling over into the blog because by the end of the day every single part of my being feels drained. I often find myself at a loss for words to put down here when it feels like nothing I have to say matters, not even to me. That needs to stop, because this little space on the Internet is what keeps me going sometimes. Having something that is personally significant and putting effort into it is the best part of the day no matter how empty my head feels.
This brings me to my next point, I'm having once of those weeks where I hate everything in my wardrobe and just want to stay in bed in my cozy clothes. Luckily last week I was feeling a bit more inspired and put this together, and I wore it once last Monday and again on Saturday. I love the combination of a fisherman sweater with luxurious gold brocade together in a perfect balance and brought together with a black leather belt. The textures and colors work together in neutral-tone harmony.

  3. It was strange reading this post, because it feels like I could have written it. I've been doing a lot of complaining about work lately as well, and am definitely having one of those I-hate-everything-in-my-closet sort of weeks. I hope work gets better for you - I know how draining it can be when it's not going right. If it's any consolation, that outfit is so perfect and cozy-looking.

  4. Lovely lovely. I really like the texture and fit of the sweater. If only that style didn't make me look a mile wide!

  5. Ugh, sorry to hear you're having work problems.  Too bad we're not closer or I would say we grab coffee and vent over our work issues together.  I guess you'll have to come visit. ;)  You look charming as always, but that first photo is especially beautiful and intimate.

  12. Smart move.  We don't want the misery of our jobs infecting and ruining the fun parts of our lives.  I've caught myself doing this the same way.  Hang in there, pal.

  13. My work makes me feel a lot the same sometimes, and I totally understand. I want to stay snuggled up in bed lately too but only because it's cold and snowy out :p

  15. I'm feeling the same way about my job recently, and the time left for everything else at the end of the day is never enough. Oh well, in any case I love this outfit, the combination of knit and brocade is great!

  17. I really like the shape of the AA sweater and the contrast of the knit against the brocade. I am so with you about the work thing. Desk jobs just take up some much of your mental energy, even if it's a job you like.

  22. I'm sorry your job sucks.  Mine did, too, so I quit it.  And it was totally and completely relieving, except now I have an excessive amount of time on my hands, and that leads to feelings of emptiness, too.  Who knows what the answer is.  Hang in there!

  23. you look absolutely stunning, these pictures are so  so so beautiful. Can't you just quit your job? It doesn't make sense going on if your job makes you so unhappy...
