Last Thursday

Despite the relaxed vibe of my previous post about our trip, it actually began in a meltdown. When Rich got to my house to pick me up and I was running around tantrum-ing because I couldn't find my battery charger for the DSLR. After helping me look he finally just pulled me and my stuff in the car and drove me straight to a store for a replacement. After that it was sunshine and smiles for the rest of the drive and we stopped to snap some shots at a south shore beach and then turned north towards our destination.
Our first stop was the North Fork Table and Inn's Lunch Truck. Its next to the restaurant, but costs much less and you are served from a little window. Its so quaint and delicious.
Our own lunch truck.
Beefsteak tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella and rocket on fresh bread. NOM!
After a brief post-lunch thrifting stop we checked into the hotel. Once we were in, we got on our bikes and rode into Greenport.
Looking handsome on a 3-speed Rollfast.
After running around a beach, thrifting and biking it was necessary to freshen up for dinner. I wore my new American Apparel skirt and vintage red purse. My handsome date took my picture for me.
To dinner!
We had lobster scampi, stuffed shrimp and an amazing salad. Everything was so incredibly delicious. Our waitress was such a sweetheart and suggested what we should order (and she would know since her boyfriend is the chef!).
By 9pm when we got back to the hotel we were exhausted and fell asleep right away. At about midnight we both woke up once the itis wore off and sat out on the porch with a glass of wine watching the moon on the water for hours.

The start of your trip sounds like the start of all mine....me running around like a headless chicken at the last minute and my boyfriend swooping in all calm and zen-like to do the problem solving. I love and resent him for it in equal measure :) Sounds like a lovely start to the trip. Your outfit is so pretty...I love the combination of colour and the splashes of red!

  5. I like Greenport and usually eat at Claudio's when I'm out there.  (It's easy to park a motorcycle in their crowded parking lot.)  One of these days, I'm going to be out and will spot you and Rich enjoying life on the Island.  I look forward to that!

  6. Aww this sounds like such a perfect day! I pretty much always through a tantrum the morning before leaving on a trip. There's always something I can't find! I LOVE that American Apparel skirt!

  8. I'm surprised it HASN'T happened already! I'm in Huntington ALL the time during the summer because people there have pools haha.
I'd never been to Claudio's, and everyone assured me that "It's touristy and not that good." But honestly, I thought it was awesome and not super touristy (then again its the end of the season).
You and your motorcycles...Rich wants one...I can especially see the appeal out east with the great views and the perfect weather!

  9. This sounds just perfect! Staying near the beach, thrifting and eating delicious food is my idea of a great vacation. Your striped top is so cute with the skirt, and the red bag is fantastic...I've been looking for one like that!

  12. What a lovely trip. There is nothing like getting away from the city for a day or two, especially when good food and the beach is involved.

  13. We need to keep our eyes open if you visit my hometown!  Actually, I'd probably recognize you before you see me since most of my blog photos depict my idealized self and not my public persona.

There is nothing more fun than motorcycles.  On my big one, I'm always giving rides to passengers who've never been on a bike before so they can have the experience.  If Rich (or you) ever want to ride, just holler!

  15. Your new skirt is so cute! I've been wanting one in that same shape, but I keep wondering if I should just try to make one instead of buy it.
