Start wearing purple, wearing purple

I can't believe I'm posting these pictures, ah well...here is my bathing suit. Living on the water means that you spend a lot of time in the water and build up an impressive collection of bathing suits. I have at least ten, but they are mainly from Target, Old Navy and PacSun sales in December. Why? Because salt water will basically guarantee that they lose their shape and color pretty quick if you don't rotate them.
This summer I wanted something a little different. I'm not going to the beach six times a week anymore and it felt like time for something a little more flattering. Immediately I thought of JCrew. Every summer I would sit and look at the pictures on the website and think, it was just too much for something I'm going to ruin by the end of summer. Finally I took the plunge and I'm so happy I did. This is by far the most flattering, comfortable bathing suit I have ever owned.
On our trip out east this is easily the outfit I spent the most time in. It makes me feel glamorous and playful, and not totally exposed. In my opinion, that is the mark of a perfect bathing suit.

  4. I love this song! I keep singing it whenever I put on something purple. :)

Absolutely agree about swimsuits - this bikini is so flattering and chic! You look great and carefree!
I have a bikini with the classic 50s high waisted bottom and I love it - I've never felt good wearing bikinis before I bought this one. 50s chic is the best choice for swimear. :)

  6. Now that's a gorgeous suit.  Really pretty.

I've been dying to buy a bathing suit for years but, since I've no place to wear one, I've refrained.  The beauty of yours makes me want to get one, if only for wearing at home.

So I was THIS close to buying the one-peice version of this exact suit but then last minute I switched to something different.  So funny though that we both got super similar JCrew suits this year.  I love love love how the purple looks on you!  Oh and thanks for driving me to Manhattan today.. hehe

I LOVE that bathing suit! I've never seen that style. It's not too revealing, yet it doesn't cover up too much. The polka dots also give it a vintage feel. Great choice, girl!

  27. This is pretty much the cutest bathing suit ever. I almost took the plunge and bought a JCrew suit this year, but didn't. Maybe I'll scour their sale section and see if anything is left...

  28. To answer the question you left on my blog, the aerialist is my good friend Tracy, whose blog ("The Closet Shopper") is also one of the six nominees.  Tracy is a lovely person, a talented aerialist, and her POTY entry is about that hobby of hers.  I met Tracy in person this Summer when she visited NYC from her home in San Francisco.  (There's a post about that meetup.)
