Got a handful of gold and a pocketful of dreams

Michal and I did some major thrifting damage all over Brooklyn on Saturday. We had brunch at Jimmy's Diner and then Ida took us to all her favorite thrift spots. The day was successful in having a great time with the girls, but also scoring some awesome fall clothes. Michal and I accidentally drove into Manhattan trying to get to the J/M/Z because the L wasn't running. I must have taken a wrong turn, but we found the train running alongside us halfway across the Wiliamsburg Bridge. I'm not big on bridges to begin with, but I'd never driven into Manhattan. I'm glad I had Callie there to experience it with me, we were both laughing, I was cursing like a maniac. Can't wait til she comes to visit again, or perhaps we'll have to meet in Boston!
Here's what I looked like for a girls day out. I listened to The Turtles Me About You all day on repeat, it probably influenced my outfit decision.
Vintage top, BDG pants, Halogen purse, Kork Ease sandals

  1. Oooooh, that bag looks so comfy. There's nothing I hate more than going shopping with a shitty bag. Are we going to get to see what you got??

  10. I would be terrified of driving in NYC! (I refuse to drive in London) So congrats on that. I like this top, styled with the simple cut of the trousers plus  it goes rather well with that van in the background

  11. What a pretty top!  I hope you had fun thrifting.

BTW, you're my favorite linguist.  I *am* impressed at your smarts.  Brains and beauty -- you've got the whole package!

  15. The mini-bus behind you works perfectly with your outfit!!!

So this Turtles band. . is that the OLD Turtles or something else?

  16. Like The Turtles! I think this song is from 1967 (but I could be COMPLETELY wrong). Its such an amazing song (musically...lyrically its a little boring).

  17. Thanks so much for your sweet comment on my blog, the reason I bought the blazer is because of the back ;).

I absolutely LOVE thrift shopping so I can't wait to see what you've bought. I believe thrift shopping in the USA is even more excited then here in The Netherlands, so I NEED to visit the states any time soon haha.

Your outfit is so cute, love the headband.

  18. Those sandals are great!! I wonder if they would be flat enough for me right now (seriously, my life as a 75 year old woman) What kind of foot issues come with figure skating? Thank goodness I quit ballet at age 9 b/c I would have been sorely disappointed when my feet gave out early in my career! I have high arches and I'm sure I woulda only made it like 2 years in point.

Very cute pictures, as always :)

  20. Ah! You look perfectly adorable and classic! If I have not said it before, I am sorry, but I adore your hair so much! Argh, I want to chop all of my hair off, but it won't look as cute.
