Fancy dress in Brooklyn

Saturday night was Ida's birthday party in Brooklyn and the theme was a dress to impress cocktail party. Looking back through all the pictures it reminds me of the party scene from Breakfast at Tiffany's.
I had never met Sean who was the other birthday guest of honor with Ida, and I ended up meeting a lot of great people because of the double invite list. Being a double birthday celebration it called for something special, so I brought Pimm's and peach slices.
Outside there was a crazy thunderstorm going on the whole time giving us a pretty light show. The rain was pretty bad and we tried to wait it out by sleeping on the couches in the wee hours of the morning. Unfortunately, it still hasn't stopped two days later so there was a bit of a flaw in the plan. Overall it was a great night with everyone crowded in sipping drinks and listening to music with the rain beating on the windows outside.
I think the gentleman standing next to me was one of the best dressed. Don't you hate when you dress for a theme party but then half the people who show up are too shy to get into the theme? Just go with it!
The punchbowl and an interesting view of the partyHappy birthday to Ida and Sean!Laughing with girlfriends (it must have been really funny)Hey there! I'm having Pimms, chatting to a friend, and wearing a vintage dress (with my favorite Kork Ease platforms, sorry there's no picture).*Pictures by Ida and various other camera holders throughout the night <3

  11. Your hair is sooo pretty! and your dress! I love dress-up parties, + I also hate when people are too shy to get into the theme. My brother and I had a fancy party when I turned 18 and he turned 21. We closed the family restaurant so it was just our private party and had a jazz band and beautiful food and drinks and it was my favorite party ever!

  16. Love your dress! One of my favorite things on the planet is theme parties, but usually the ones I hear about aren't nearly this classy. . . There's a dorm at my school that hosts things like 'robots and sluts' and 'CEOs and corporate hoes.' Such inventive boys. haha

  22. I know what you mean about dress up parties! My friends and I are always the ones who go all out and then get there and think 'hmm, maybe we went a bit too far' haha. That dress you're wearing is gorgeous! And yay for Pimm's. I need to get on that stat. After drinking it the entire time I was in England, I'm having withdrawals.
