*Edit: I should mention a little something about this skirt. In 2009, the last year of All Points West Music Festival (yes, I'm still heartbroken that its gone) I went with my then boyfriend for all three days of fun in the rain/sun/mud. I had just moved home from college and barely had any clothes that I could afford to ruin. The solution: buying some cheap fabric on sale at a craft store and whipping up three skirts the night before leaving for the festival in my first ever misguided attempt at using my mom's sewing machine. I never expected them to last longer than that weekend, but perhaps my sewing skills are better than I give myself credit for (or I just have a great delicate cycle on the washing machine).

This outfit looks so cute and comfortable! I think I need to thrift some linen tops now =) And it's so cool that you took the sewing leap and this skirt has lasted! In response to your question, I've been doing some freelance copywriting and editing lately for J Brand, and I've done a little freelance for some other women's clothing brands in the past.

Good work on the homemade skirt! I have been known to get into a clothes altering frenzy before certain holidays and such. I like the easy vibe of your summer outfits. Quite jealous you have a boardwalk to visit too.
ReplyDeleteLovely breezy outfit. I can't believe that's the first thing you ever sewed!
ReplyDeleteThe first time I tried to sew a skirt I didn't read the instruction on the pattern that said 'cut two'... Needless to say I was a bit disillusioned with the outcome!
I know I say this everytime.. but you are so stunning.
ReplyDeleteI think it's wonderful that your skirts have lasted so long! And it definitely doesn't look homemade at all, it looks great, let alone a first attempt!
I love repeating outfits for similar reasons (weather, ease...)
