Heatwave 1

New York's got its first heat wave of the summer (its not even technically summer yet) and the thermometer is pushing 95 degrees. What to you wear to work or an internship when you're melting mere steps after leaving your house?
My advice is to keep it lightweight. This oversized linen shirt is a pale color and a breathable fabric are perfect for keeping cool. If you're working in an office you really shouldn't be wearing your jean shorts to work even though they're sitting there looking all comfy. A good pair of longer, fitted shorts is a good investment. Those awful shorts that are modeled on dress slacks are totally unnecessary (and weird). These Hurley shorts are from when I was 18 and working at PacSun; I still wear them.
Polyester and synthetic materials are better left for days under 80 degrees, along with tights and accessory overload. That and eyeliner. Today I learned the hard way that my long-lasting liquid liner comes right off when my eyeballs sweat because Canal Street feels like a river of fire.
Happy heatwave...pssh.

  2. Good advice. I'm finding it harder to follow your guidelines in menswear but at least I don't have to worry about makeup running. :)

  5. It sounds ridiculously intense over there! I'm not going to lie, though, I wouldn't mind a tiny little bit of extra heat over here; it still doesn't feel like summer.

It seems like your work is pretty laid back and that outfit is pretty perfect!

  13. I tend to go with darker colors, like black, since I don't want people to see that I am sweaty. Yuck! I hate heat and humidity!
You look cute though, and I love you nail polish.

  19. I've been trying so hard to figure out decent outfits for New York's yucky, hot weather (though it's finally cooled off thankfully). This is a great look! And even better, it looks like it would keep you cool!

  21. Gorgeous top! I hate the heat. ughh. I feel like I've went on a rant about it at least 50 times since May haha. But I think about fall constantly and about how fall is the greatest season in the world and should appear right now. I love your color block nails!
