I watched Coco Before Chanel this weekend and I couldn't get the last scene out of my mind. Audrey Tautou's interpretation of Coco Chanel was little fragile, totally sassy, and the clothes were impeccable. When I was picking out my outfit I couldn't get that final scene of her on the steps out of my mind. Here is my interpretation of Chanel's outfit from the last scene, simple and French with tough looking ankle boots for a New York twist.
H&M sweater, Gap tee, Gap skirt, BP tights, Seychelles booties, Penn State scarf
That movie was so good!! I watched it about a month ago and I agree the last scene with her in the quintessential Chanel outfit was great. I loved the juxtoposition of how she would dress compared to everyone else at the time. So elegant and effortless but hey, I guess that's Chanel for you ;)
I can definitely see the Chanel inspiration here. I loved all the style inspiration in that film (but how could you go wrong, really - it's all about Chanel!) I also remember not being able to get that song that she sings in the bar out of my head either haha
you practically ARE audrey/coco chanel! she is one of my very favorite actresses--all of her movies are so charming! i definitely think you have the french-chic thing down pat.
and yes, we can discuss modcloth for a minute. i totally agree that the quality is generally subpar--I bought a dress from them this summer, wore it twice and then had to restitch one section of the waistband. i still think that dress was worth it because it is so floaty and amazing, but i'm very wary of their wares at this point... esp at those prices! i try to only buy "special occasion" dresses from the site, because i'll probably only wear them once or twice anyway and it doesn't matter if they fall apart after that (isn't that terrible??)
oh ps: i saw this movie and did love it, but i actually liked the less-publicized version better (which came out right around the same time): coco chanel with Barbora Bobulova/Shirley MacLaine as Coco.
I saw this movie when it first came out & loved it! The last scene is awesome. You did such a good job using it as inspiration. The outfit is totally inspired, but not copy-cat. I LOVE the bows on the cardigan!! Plus, your hair is the cutest! xo
