Blackout Birthday Party or The Mid-March Hurricane

I am live from my local library due to a tremendous storm that hit Long Island this past weekend (on the night of my birthday party to be exact). While driving home after dinner from my grandparent's house I fully intended to cancel the festivities, as most people had already changed their Facebook invite replies to "not attending." Of course there were a few intrepid travelers who refused to be impeded by a mere thing like the weather. And so, as the party began and the guests arrived the power went out, candles were lit, and drinks were poured.
This is Priscilla, the albino raccoon that lived in my backyard until she died of natural causes and my mom thought it would be cool to keep her around. We pretended to have a seance for her, but it didn't work.
Eventually the power came back and a few more people arrived. Augusten Burroughs' "Magical Thinking" was read aloud, and the night played out like an episode of The Office with snarky-sarcastic commentary and dry humored conversation.
Here is what I threw on when I realized that I wasn't allowed to cancel my own shindig.
H&M dress (10$ and a birthday present from mom, Hue tights, H&M shoes, Cashmere sweater (Nordstrom via dad's holiday gift...easily the most wonderful sweater ever)
Makeup and any kind of hairstyle was rendered completely useless by the 70 mile and hour winds and torrential downpour. I did however get to use my little handmade, handbeaded, hand-clutch from the 1920's (I have quite a few of these that will be for sale in my store once its up and running...but not this one, its my favorite)

  6. I wonder how rare the albino mutation is. I think it is totally crazy.
It only points out how remarkable your friends tatoo is that no one else commented on your raccoon. He's in Grad school?

Thanks for the comment. I believe the printers have all been used and i believe they all came from England and France (at least the majority of them). I'm glad you liked it***

  8. That is an interesting point. Though knives, arrows, nooses and guns are often turned into jewlery.I can see how that would be freaky to some. Thanks for your comment!
